A Little Light Reading

Author:  Chris Henderson      Categories:   Free Will, The Problem of Suffering
It happens to the best of us. We run out of ideas to say, out of illustrations, or out
of anecdotes. Call it writer’s block or a “senior moment.” We’ve all experienced that time when we just lose the words to express ourselves. This is especially true when trying to write something that will be presented orally. So, what do we do then? Often, a person turns to the dictionary and begins reciting the definition of a topical word or phrase. But have we ever thought about the people who wrote dictionaries? Who did they turn to and how did they draft a definition?…

A Loving Savior vs Punishment of Hell

Author: Brett Henderson     Categories:   Culture, Free Will
How can God, who is supposed to be all loving, send people to Hell? This might be one of the most common objections to the gospel. It can also be one of the trickier objections to deal with, due to how many incorrect cultural beliefs are held about both Heaven and Hell. Baa Baa Black Sheep…

Author:  Chris Henderson     Categories:   Science and the Bible, Atheism
There is an old joke about two hikers in the woods who come upon a bear. As the bear started to growl and move toward them, one of the hikers stopped to make sure his shoes were laced up good and tight. The other hiker looked around at him and said, “you know you’re never going to outrun that bear.” “I don’t have to”, the second one replied, “all I have to do is to outrun you!” This story has been told so many times it has ceased to be humorous. Yet, this is precisely how we are told that nature, as we know it, has come into being.
