Any informed, honest, and conscientious person must be compelled to agree that Christianity has, since it’s beginning, been concretely interwoven within human history. Unlike other religions, the roots of Christianity were not hidden behind curtains or communicated in secret. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus was open and public as were the actions of the Apostles. A person may ignore or disagree with the message of the Gospel, but a rational person cannot disagree with the historical events. The defense of the Gospel is usually called apologetics, from the Greek “apologia” απολογια meaning a reasoned defense. The goal of apologetics is to point out the historical certainty of Christian origins, to answer questions concerning reasons for faith, and to respond to arguments from those opposed to Christian beliefs. We offer the following resources to research and learn more about this study.

Any serious attempt at apologetics must include a basic knowledge of logic and reasoning. Click this link for a brief summary of the history and common elements involved with establishing arguments and drawing conclusions. These include the three basic laws of logic and the structured arrangement of syllogisms.Apologetics Press is a highly respected source for books, articles, and teaching material covering a variety of topics. Many deal with historical and scientific evidences for the reliability of the Bible.
Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Thomas Warren who was famous for his debates with those who deny the truth of the Gospel, the Warren Apologetics Center provides excellent scholarly material and hosts annual conferences.
The Memphis School of Preaching is now offering a 3rd year program providing a graduate diploma in the field of apologetics. Both on-campus and online learning opportunities are available.
